DESCRIPTION: APW - Ball Hamilton, Official RR Standard, Grade 998 Elinvar, 23J, 16S, white gold-filled OF original Ball Model stirrup bow case with attractive pattern engraving to rear, plain overlay applied to rear shield, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, mono-metallic balance with blued Elinvar hairspring, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#B648079. An attractive example of this top quality Ball grade, the 998 Elinvar had a total production of 2700 made and was produced between 1939 and 1942.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, some typical mild fine to micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with extremely faint small hl below seconds-register at 6, few micro-fine scratches, nearly mint hands; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, good overall engraving detail with mild reduction, some wear to brass to high points of band between 6 and 9; tight bow with wear to brass along its upper edges, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
